Old Business: Great Backyard Bird Count: Feb. 12 – 15
Last year Kane County had:

Elgin had both the
most lists submitted (41) and the most birds (3,701)
New Business:

In memory of Vern Mackay, Bob and Kathy Andrini are going to donate a
book, Birdfinder, A Birder’s Guide to Planning North American Trips by Jerry A.
Cooper. As the title suggests, it’s a great book to help plan birding
vacations/trips.

Kane County Forest Preserve District is looking into
allowing gravel mining on one of its locations: Brunner Forest Preserve. KCA is looking into forming a committee to look into it – a sheet for
signup was passed around.

Jack Shouba contacted Bob about having bird
monitors look at different properties around Campton Township – a sheet
for signup was passed around.

An environmental conference will be taking
place in Batavia on Feb. 20 and KCA is looking for someone who would be
willing to set up a booth for KCA. Anyone interested should contact Bob to
get the necessary materials.

Photo Gallery: The St. Charles Public Library
has asked KCA to put up a photo display of birds for the month of May.
Kathy and Bob Andrini will collect the photos (framed) by the end of
March. Participants are to label their photos.
Education:
Dick Untch, Director of Development for the City of Geneva presented a
program on Prairie Green Wetland (Prairie Green, Past, Present and
Future). After the presentation, Dick answered many questions about
Prairie Green.
Chuck Petersen showed images of some of the birds we had seen at Prairie
Green Wetlands – these images were collected from members of KCA.
