Chuck Peterson welcomed members and guests.

Sightings:  American Bittern, Lesser Scaup, Brown Creeper, Merlin, Juncos, Marbled Godwit, Red breasted Nuthatch, Bald Eagle, Le Conte Sparrow at Prairie Green, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Peregrine Falcon, Northern Pintail, Franklin Gulls, Long-billed Dowitcher, Sora, Redhead, Ruby-throated Hummingbird (aberrant), Townsend Solitaire, Bluebirds, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Red-breasted Grosbeak, Northern Saw-whet Owl, White-crowned sparrows, American Woodcock

New Business:

1. KCA received a check in the amount of $50 from Wasco Nursery for bird walks given at the nursery.

2. KCA candidates for upcoming election:

President, Bob Andrini; Vice President, Tim Balassie; Treasurer, Jane McMillan; Secretary, Nancy Schnaitman. Other positions are appointed.

3. It was proposed that KCA make a donation in the amount of $198 to be given to Operation Migration. The proposal was seconded and the motion carried.

4. Those traveling to Horicon Marsh Oct. 24th, were advised to pick up an informative handout available on the back table.

5. Regole’s is offering a 10% discount on birdseed. Johnson’s Seed is also having a sale on birdseed. 

Education: Valerie Blaine, a member of KCA, presented a program on Ethno-Ornithology, the study of the interactions of birds and people.
