Bob Andrini welcomed members and guests.

Sightings: Some birds mentioned were: Northern Shrike; Sandhill Cranes; and very late Summer Tanager.

Education Moment: KCA member Norm Kopp gave a presentation about his use of the AVISYS birding software.

New Business:
1. Tim Balassie gave the membership report:

  • KCA has 128 memberships (all types)
  • 84% are in family/individual memberships
  • 16% in other various levels
  • In 2009 we added 18 new memberships, while we dropped about 15 memberships.
  • 86% of our members live in Kane County; 14% other counties

Jerry Hope related that KCA is the 3rd oldest chapter of IAS and is "one of the fastest growing chapters."

2. Bob related the following: Newsletters would be coming out next week. Be aware of change of locations for some of the meetings, and be aware of the 4 Road Trips.

3. The Library now has two new additions: "Birding on Borrowed Time" and "Life List." These are both about the life of Phoebe Snetsinger.

4. Regoles Harvest Shoppe has closed its doors.

Old Business:
Terry Murray talked about the upcoming Christmas Bird Count. KCA will have 9 teams in the same areas as in the past. The team captains will be receiving material for the count. The count can begin ˝ hour before sunrise until sunset.

Education: Speaker: Tassie Brautigam gave a presentation about the “Birds of the South Pole – Awesome Antarctica."

Treats: Refreshments were provided by Kathy Andrini and Cathy Clarke.

Raffle: The winner of the Cardinal painting by Andrea Niedzielski was won by Cathy Clarke.
