Diane Hansen on 2/22 reported via e-mail: I stepped outside on the west side of Elgin to walk a mile down to the Elgin dam area and heard some Sandhill Cranes.

After a moment of scanning the sky I was able to locate a flock of about 40 circling over my block.

Interestingly, this is the exact date I saw my first sandhills last year.
